Consequential Pain

One of the most exruciating types of pain that I experience is the pain I receive from living with the consequences of what I have done to somebody else.  It is bad pain because:

  • It is never nice to see somebody you care for having a tough time
  • It is awful to know that you are responsible for that pain
  • Until you are forgiven by that person it is difficult to forgive yourself
  • It forces you to take a stark look at yourself – you realise you are so self-obsessed that you will bulldoze over anybody’s feelings to get something for yourself.

It’s never too late to turn around though, to do the right thing.  This of course does not remove the pain from either party but it starts the healing process.  Dwelling on old wounds does no good at all, you just end up infected with bitterness.
